The City is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Assistant Treasurer/Collector to support the daily operations of the Treasurer/Collector’s Office. Reporting to the Treasurer/Collector, this position plays a key role in municipal financial management, including tax and utility collections, cash management, accounts payable, payroll coordination, and revenue processing. Responsibilities include issuing and reconciling tax bills and abatements, processing vendor disbursements, monitoring cash flow, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Assistant Treasurer/Collector works closely with city departments, financial institutions, and the public to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with Massachusetts General Laws and municipal policies. This role may serve as Acting Treasurer/Collector when needed. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience in municipal finance, accounting, or a related field, with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred. Experience with municipal software and knowledge of government finance operations are highly desirable.
