Job Description:

The town of Millville is seeking a candidate for the Assistant Treasurer and Tax Collector position. This is a full-time benefitted position of 30 hours per week; Millville town hall is closed on Fridays.

Job Responsibility:

  • Primary contact for all tax inquiries and transactions
  • Collection, deposit, posting and balancing of tax payments
  • Preparation of MLCs
  • Management of online payment file uploads
  • Electronic remittance import and posting
  • Processes the bi-weekly payroll for the town
  • Maintains all payroll and personnel records
  • Updating benefit enrollments and terminations
  • Employee onboarding

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to communicate in an appropriate and effective way with taxpayers, banks and attorneys through both written and verbal interactions
  • Ability to be Bonded
  • Strong general computer aptitude
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Knowledge of both VADAR Municipal Financial software and Harpers Payroll Systems is strongly preferred
  • Training through MCTA and a familiarity with MA laws pertaining to municipal finance and taxation is a plus
  • Minimum of two years’ experience with collection and payroll financial systems
  • High degree of flexibility and the ability to prioritize
  • Agile capacity for multi-tasking, problem-solving and effective decision-making

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of both VADAR Municipal Financial software and Harpers Payroll Systems
  • Training through MCTA and a familiarity with MA laws pertaining to municipal finance and taxation
