Job Description:

The town of Leicester seeks motivated applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Town Accountant. The Assistant Town Accountant is responsible for providing support to the Office of the Town Accountant including but not limited to the posting of all town warrants, entering cash receipts and other administrative tasks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Posting of all town warrants
  • entering cash receipts
  • other administrative tasks
  • entering and posting of town/school warrants and cash receipts for review and approval by the Town Accountant
  • assists in compiling data necessary for completing financial reports
  • maintains up-to-date spread sheets, and 1099’s
  • balances and reconciles data for specific accounts including payroll
  • checks against warrant registers
  • identifies traces and otherwise resolves discrepancies in balancing accounts in accordance with established procedures

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree or journeyman’s level of trade knowledge
  • a minimum of three to five years related work experience
  • or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Must pass a CORI check

Nice to have:

Experience with VADAR is preferred
