Job Description:

The city of Cambridge is seeking an Assistant to the City Arborist to help manage the maintenance and care of nearly 19,000 municipal trees, in public ways, parks, playgrounds, cemeteries, squares, plazas, medians, and public building grounds; monitor the activities related to planting, watering, pruning, pest control, removal, and storm response. Utilize a work order management system related to arboriculture operations to ensure efficient use of labor, materials, equipment, and facilities, and other tasks as assigned.

Job Responsibility:

  • Help manage the maintenance and care of nearly 19,000 municipal trees, in public ways, parks, playgrounds, cemeteries, squares, plazas, medians, and public building grounds
  • Monitor the activities related to planting, watering, pruning, pest control, removal, and storm response
  • Utilize a work order management system related to arboriculture operations to ensure efficient use of labor, materials, equipment, and facilities, and other tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • Two to three years of progressively responsible experience in arboriculture, either at the municipal or commercial level
  • Certification as an Arborist by either the Massachusetts Arborists Association or by the International Society of Arboriculture preferred
