Job Description:

Randstad are recruiting for a Qualified Social Work Team Leader to join Falkirk Council's Children and Families Service. This is a full time role offering a fantastic competitive pay rate.

Job Responsibility:

  • You ensure that practice is safe, legal, and effective
  • Providing regular, formal supervision to Social Workers to reflect on case progress, manage risk, and offer emotional support
  • Reviewing case files, assessments, and child protection plans to ensure they meet statutory standards and departmental KPIs
  • Acting as the final "sign-off" for high-risk decisions, such as initiating care proceedings or escalating a case to Child Protection
  • Allocating new referrals and monitoring caseloads to prevent staff burnout
  • Identifying underperformance early and supporting staff through training or formal improvement plans
  • Interviewing new hires and ensuring new starts are properly integrated into the team's culture and processes
  • Managing budgets for Section 17 payments (emergency financial support) or commissioned services
  • Representing the team in meetings with schools, police, health professionals, and the courts
  • Translating high-level local authority changes or national legislation (like the Children Act) into daily practice for your staff
