Job Description:

Newcastle City Council is looking for an ambitious and experienced Assistant Team Manager to join our dedicated Care Leavers team. This is a pivotal role where you will support the Team Manager in shaping a service that empowers young people as they transition from care to independence. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about social justice, high standards of practice, and-most importantly-achieving the best possible outcomes for our care experienced young adults.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervise a team of Personal Advisors and Social Workers
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of case management
  • Deputize for the Team Manager
  • Collaborate with partner agencies

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in working with looked-after children or care leavers
  • Proven ability to mentor staff, manage performance, and handle complex escalated cases
  • A degree in Social Work and a current registration with Social Work England
  • A calm, authoritative approach to decision-making in a fast-paced environment
