We are seeking to appoint to the role of a Assistant Team Manager (AMHP Senior Practitioner) to help manage the establishment of our centralised AMHP service based at the Whiteleaf Centre, Aylesbury. We provide a 24/7 AMHP service dedicated to assessing people under the Mental Health Act in a person centred and strength based manner. You will be part of a small management team comprised of a Team Manager and 2 Assistant Team Managers; one of whom works exclusively out of hours. You will need to be an accredited AMHP with at least 18 months’ practice experience as an AMHP. You will support the ongoing daytime AMHP duty service triaging and coordinating new referrals ensuring referrals are followed up in a timely manner. You will also contribute to the risk management and prioritisation processes, maintaining service continuity from in hours to out of hours. You will be expected to undertake all aspects of AMHP practice in daytime hours, supporting the manager in maintaining positive working relationships with the service’s key stakeholders (particularly in respect of the section 75 arrangement). You will contribute to the maintenance of AMHP practice reviewing assessment reports, ensuring there is legal compliance in our service. You will also contribute to the ongoing professional development of individual AMHPs and support training and supervision activities.
Job Responsibility
To convene and undertake MHA assessments on the ‘in hours’ AMHP rota
To undertake the statutory roles of an AMHP as laid out in the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended) and Code of Practice
Provide support and professional/reflective/management supervision to the AMHP group particularly focusing on in hours AMHPs
Support the AMHPs with their own professional development
Promote and engage in cross/multi agency working, ensuring strong working relationships are in place with partner agencies
Deputise for the AMHP Manager in his absence
Support the development of individuals both within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and Buckinghamshire Council with the process of AMHP training and eventual approval as an AMHP to the service
Provide guidance and management oversight for complex, high-risk cases, co-working with the duty AMHP when required
Undertaking AMHP tasks outside the normal duty day
these will include Guardianship applications, liaison with the Council’s legal department in compiling reports for the displacement or identification of Nearest Relatives and attending CTO review & planning meetings
Promote the AMHP competences effectively across the AMHP service including identifying, challenging and redressing discrimination and inequality in all its forms
Support and develop the involvement of individuals with lived experience and their carers, promoting participation and inclusivity
Requirements
Accredited AMHP with at least 18 months’ practice experience as an AMHP
Confident, highly organised and experienced AMHP
Ability to make decisions, work to tight deadlines and maintain high professional standards
