Job Responsibility:
Functions as a specialist and/or educator in various disciplines of Ophthalmology
May assist in some supervisory duties, or in the absence of the supervisor
Coordinates daily activities of assigned ophthalmic technicians and develop weekly technician schedules
Maintains presence on the clinical floor to ensure patient flow moves efficiently
Oversight of ophthalmic technician training program to ensure staff is performing at required skill level
Performs as a ophthalmic technician, in addition fills is able to float in and cover any specialty service when staffing shortages occur
Chairs bi-monthly technician team meeting
Provides regular weekly feedback to Faculty Practice Manager about staffing concerns, performance issues, and opportunities for organizational improvements
Assists with recruitment and hiring process for ophthalmic technicians, and provides input regarding performance evaluations for technicians
Keeps certification up to date in addition keeps abreast of current trends and developments in ophthalmic technical field
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience with COA certification
or 5 years of relevant experience and COA certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with COA certification
