This position is responsible for proficiency in all areas of a retail operation, serving as the second in charge to the Store Manager. Duties include providing leadership, ensuring a positive customer experience, performing operational activities, and promoting a safe work environment.

Support selling initiatives (TEAM)
Assist Store Manager in Store Operations including driving sales and profit, customer loyalty, planning, prioritization, and delegating daily tasks
Assist Store Manager in Team Member counseling, hiring/staffing decisions, scheduling, training and development
Act as store leader during Store Manager’s absence
Order live goods and store supplies
Train and certify Team Leaders in receiving process
Lead and coach store team members on store operations
Drive sales and profit through merchandising, expense control, profit/loss management
Execute merchandising activities and Plan-o-gram procedures
Perform Opening/Closing procedures
Transport and make deposits to bank
Reconcile cash drawers and vault
Operate cash register supervising cash handling
Assess store conditions and assign duties
Organize and prioritize workflow
Recovery of merchandise
Participate in mandatory freight process
Perform regular and promotional price change activities
Resolve customer complaints/issues
Adhere to loss prevention standards
Communicate with Team Members on job functions and goals
Assemble merchandise
Perform janitorial duties
Assist customers with loading purchases
Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals
Sanitize and maintain holding tanks and care for live animals
Handle and care for all live animals including their food, bedding and habitat
Complete all associated documentation
Requirements:
Previous retail leadership experience
Must be at least 18 years of age
Possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to read, write and count accurately
Ability to frequently lift or reach merchandise overhead
Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders
Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift
Ability to safely access all areas of the store
Ability to constantly operate store equipment
Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to process information / merchandise through the point-of-sale system
Ability to successfully complete all required training and certification
Ability to travel as required
Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for business needs
Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead
Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper material handling equipment
