This position is responsible for proficiency in all areas of a retail operation. The position serves as the second in charge of operations to the Store Manager. Duties include providing leadership and direction to the store team, ensuring a positive customer shopping experience and performing operational activities throughout the store and giving appropriate direction to the store Team Members. This position is also responsible for promoting a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, as well as training Team Members on the appropriate application of policies and procedures.

Act as store leader during Store Manager’s absence
Order live goods and store supplies
Train and certify Team Leaders in receiving
Lead and coach store team members on operations
Drive sales and profit
Execute merchandising activities
Perform Opening/Closing procedures
Transport and make deposits to bank
Assess store conditions and assign duties
Organize and prioritize workflow
Recovery of merchandise
Participate in mandatory freight process
Perform price change activities
Resolve customer complaints/issues
Adhere to loss prevention standards
Communicate with Team Members
Operate cash register/computer
Ensure safety and well-being of live animals
Sanitize and maintain holding tanks
Care for live animals
Complete all associated documentation
Requirements:
Previous retail leadership experience required
Experience with pet/live animal knowledge strongly preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Must be at least 18 years of age
Possess a valid driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to read, write and count accurately
Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members
Pet/Live Animal, pet food, pet product knowledge strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict
Basic computer skills
