Job Description:

We are recruiting for a highly capable Assistant Site Manager to join our fast-paced residential development in Lower Herne. This is a key opportunity to step into a thriving, forward-sold 104-unit scheme where construction is progressing rapidly, with groundworks well underway and superstructure and internal works advancing. This role is ideal for a strong Assistant Site Manager or a proven No.2 looking to progress into a full Site Manager position within the next 12 months.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the Site Manager to help drive daily site operations, ensuring quality, programme, and Health & Safety standards are consistently achieved
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining site facilities, temporary works, service routes and traffic management
  • Prepare and support method statements for temporary works in line with Health & Safety plans
  • Work closely with the Site Manager and H&S Advisor to ensure site compliance at all times
  • Support the supervision of groundworks, formwork, blockwork and associated setting-out checks
  • Coordinate and monitor subcontractors, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to programme
  • Review drawings, check work against specifications, and ensure materials and labour are available to meet progress targets
  • Identify issues early, reporting to the Site Manager and implementing agreed solutions
  • Maintain high standards of finish across all stages of construction
  • Carry out regular inspections and prepare NHBC-ready plots
  • Support sign-off processes in collaboration with NHBC inspectors and internal teams
  • Implement the company Health & Safety policy and support the preparation of RAMS, permits to work and safe systems of work
  • Ensure subcontractors operate safely and in compliance with site rules
  • Record and report accidents, incidents and near-misses and help promote a strong safety culture

Requirements:

  • Strong NHBC experience with a proven track record delivering high-quality residential units
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Site Manager or a solid No.2 looking to progress
  • Ability to work efficiently on a fast-paced site with multiple plots at varying stages
  • Confident communicator with strong organisational and coordination skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with trades, colleagues, and stakeholders
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, CDM regulations, and construction buildability
  • Motivated, proactive, and committed to high-quality delivery
