Job Description

Are you interested in sustainable fashion? We have an opportunity for a passionate, creative and sales motivated individual to help run our charity shop in Haldens, Welwyn Garden City. As the Assistant Shop Manager, you will be working directly with the Shop Manager and the team of incredible volunteers. Each of our shops has its own unique personality, and you’ll play a key role in maintaining our strong reputation within the local community. Your work will help prevent reusable items from going to landfill, while also ensuring we can continue providing expert care to the people who need it most. Our retail teams operate on a rota to support the needs of the shop. This role includes working every Sunday and one additional weekday, with occasional Saturday shifts.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting the Shop Manager to maximise store income and profits by delivering exceptional retail standards
  • Maintaining and promoting the highest standard of customer care
  • Creating eye-catching displays and maintaining cleanliness throughout the shop
  • Supporting the Shop Manager to engage and train volunteers to assist in the running of the shop
  • Meeting gift aid conversion rates from people donating goods
  • Support events held both in the shop (evenings) and the local community

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment
  • Interest in or experience with sustainable fashion
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Shows understanding, respect and consideration for others at all times
  • Strong organisational skills with a proactive approach to work
  • Ability to lead by example and maintain a positive attitude
  • Collaborative team player
  • Proficiency in email, MS Office, and internet use
