Job Description:

Assistant SENCO, Surrey - High-Impact Role in SEN Education. We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our supportive team in Surrey. This is a vital, high-urgency role for an individual committed to supporting students aged 11-16 who have autism and associated communication and behavioural challenges.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading Annual Reviews: Chairing and managing the annual review process for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Stakeholder Communication: Building and maintaining strong relationships with parents, external professionals, and staff
  • Professional Development: Delivering impactful SEN training to staff
  • Strategic Support: Assisting the SENCO in developing and implementing whole-school strategies for special educational needs

Requirements:

  • Significant experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with autism
  • A strong working knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • GCSE Maths & English (Grade 4/C or equivalent)

Nice to have:

  • SENCO qualification or Access Arrangement Assessor qualification
  • A formal teaching qualification

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the SENCO and SENCO Support Staff
  • Assist with scheduling and recording SEND reviews, progress meetings, and annual reviews (where applicable)
  • Prepare documentation and learner packs for SEND meetings and reviews
  • Support follow-up actions from SEND reviews and interventions
  • Act as an initial administrative contact for SEND-related queries, referring matters appropriately
  • Communicate professionally with learners, parents/carers, tutors, assessors, employers, and external agencies
