Our client is seeking an up and coming Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the growing commercial team. Working for a leading Main Contractor, you will support the Senior Commercial team in delivering high-value construction projects across the North East. Job Responsibility:
Assisting with the procurement of subcontractors, including the preparation of tender packages and analysing returns
Supporting the monitoring of project costs against budget and assisting in the preparation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
Measuring works on-site and assisting with the preparation of interim valuations and subcontractor payment notices
Identifying, pricing, and recording variations to the contract in a timely manner
Maintaining accurate records of site activities, resources, and progress to support commercial claims and reporting
Assisting the Quantity Surveyor in the agreement of subcontractor final accounts and the preparation of the main contract final account
Requirements:
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related RICS-accreditation is ideal
Previous experience working for a Main Contractor or Subcontractor, ideally within the North East construction market
Strong numerical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
An understanding of standard forms of contract (specifically NEC4 or JCT)
A proactive approach to problem-solving
Excellent communication skills for liaising with site teams and clients
A valid UK driving license for site visits
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK
