The Community Treatment Teams provide services across CNTW in the more severe and enduring Mental Health space. The primary focus of this service stream is adults with Severe Mental Health Problems. Psychological Practitioners within the CTT use an eclectic mix of evidence based therapeutic models and styles, and a range of resources to meet the needs of their service users. The CTT operates across two pathways: the Non-Psychosis pathway and the Psychosis pathway. The Psychosis pathway is for those primarily presenting with psychosis. The Non-Psychosis pathway is for those with Complex Emotional Needs and Personality difficulties or consumers with Affective Disorders (a range of anxiety disorders, severe depression, etc.). Therapeutic interventions are delivered across both pathways.
Job Responsibility:
Assist qualified psychologists and psychological therapists in the delivery of psychological services
Provide psychological assessment and specific interventions under supervision
Conduct assessments, interventions and produce professional reports
Support the service in the delivery of training initiatives
Utilise research skills for audit, literature reviews, service development and other research initiatives
Provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity
Requirements:
Upper 2nd class honours degree, or higher, in psychology
Eligibility for graduate membership of British Psychological Society
Paid or unpaid work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities
Knowledge of evidence based practice
High level of communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate and work in highly emotive circumstances
Ability to communicate sensitive information to clients, carers and colleagues
An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems and other disabilities
Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health / cognitive impairment / disability context
Demonstrates graduate level knowledge and experience of research and research methodology
An understanding of psychology applied to healthcare
An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines
An ability to interact appropriately with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities
Ability to work reliably and consistently on tasks agreed and managed at regular intervals by supervisor
Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively
Able to manage own stress in difficult conditions and to identify when additional personal support may be necessary
Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post
Nice to have:
Further post graduate training in relevant areas of psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
Experience working with adult and young people in a mental health capacity
Experience of psychometric test administration and interpretation
Experience of providing individual or group interventions
