Job Description:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Property Underwriter to join a specialist Property Underwriting team operating under a delegated authority scheme. The team focuses exclusively on Property underwriting and has a strong track record of profitable growth. Working alongside experienced underwriters, you'll play a key role in supporting the growth and management of the property binder portfolio, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality underwriting decisions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the underwriting process by providing quotations under supervision within delegated authority limits
  • Apply underwriting guidelines accurately and escalate complex decisions when appropriate
  • Assist in issuing and managing documentation for new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments (MTAs)
  • Maintain accurate bordereaux returns, underwriting records, and reports
  • Support compliance with audits, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures
  • Contribute to insurer and broker relationship management by providing professional and timely support
  • Engage actively in ongoing training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Requirements:

  • Interest in pursuing a long-term career in underwriting
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Confident working with data, spreadsheets, and documentation
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Exposure to commercial insurance or underwriting (through work, study, or internship)
  • Experience using systems such as Acturis or similar
