Job Description

A growing construction consultancy based in Birmingham is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their residential team. This Assistant Project Manager will support the delivery of new-build apartment schemes, build-to-rent developments and suburban housing projects across the Midlands. The Assistant Project Manager will work alongside experienced Project Managers on developer-led schemes ranging from £8m-£50m. This Assistant Project Manager role offers exposure to both private and affordable residential projects within a fast-paced consultancy environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the delivery of new-build apartment schemes, build-to-rent developments and suburban housing projects
  • Work alongside experienced Project Managers on developer-led schemes ranging from £8m-£50m
  • Assist in managing projects from planning approval through to practical completion
  • Support procurement under JCT Design & Build contracts
  • Involved in programme tracking, risk management and stakeholder coordination across multidisciplinary design teams
  • Attend site progress meetings
  • Prepare monthly client reports
  • Assist with contract administration duties
  • Help manage change control procedures
  • Review contractor programmes
  • Monitor quality benchmarks on site
  • Projects will often involve phased handovers, Section 106 obligations and coordination with funders and local authorities

Requirements

  • Prior construction consultancy experience as an Assistant Project Manager
  • Degree in Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline
  • Working towards MRICS, MAPM or MCIOB accreditation
  • Previous consultancy-side experience within residential development is ideal
  • A sound understanding of JCT contracts and RIBA Stages 2-6 delivery is preferred
