The Assistant Project Manager I – Supply Chain is responsible for materials and services required in support of new vessels constructed by Seaspan Shipyards under the National Shipbuilding Strategy. The role assists the cross-functional project delivery team in coordinating internal and external resources in support of meeting specific requirements to achieve build milestones. This includes developing and executing procurement strategies with stakeholders to ensure schedule adherence and reduce risk.
Job Responsibility:
Assists the SCM-Ops Support team in coordination and execution of assigned project activities and deliverables, while working closely with internal departments
Assists in the generation and review of SCM deliverables
Monitors and helps collate program metrics to measure SCM and supplier program performance and risks
Produces weekly and monthly program reports that measure program performance against established goals and objectives
Attends weekly program meetings and presents summary of key program issues to SCM representatives
Works with SCM representatives, suppliers, contractors and team members in resolving outstanding program issues
Tracks SCM commitments identified during program meetings
Monitors program commitments to established schedule in support of maintaining program schedule, cost, safety and quality goals
Works with production, planning and engineering representatives to expedite submissions, reviews and approvals of deliverables that could impact project cost, scope or schedule
Meets with production and suppliers as required, ensuring equipment and SCM work tasks are completed in support of program goals
Support project management activities on the Joint Support Ship Program
Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline
Minimum of 3 years of progressively senior experience in the shipbuilding and/or ship repair industry in a project management-related role using Earned Value Management performance management
Minimum 2 years of sourcing, bid evaluation, negotiation, and execution of various types of purchase agreements as part of a large manufacturing organization, preferably in shipbuilding industry
Experience working in conjunction with engineering, planning, or production in the shipbuilding industry or in a complex manufacturing or construction industry
Demonstrated experience with MRP and/or ERP with the following product lifecycle and project management toolsets: ARAS, Cobra Deltek, Primavera P6, and JIRA
Demonstrated and proven ability to develop and customize applications and dashboards within the PowerBI environment
Knowledge of program performance metrics includes the ability to identify key metrics and assist in the development of performance reports
Interpersonal skills including problem solving and analytical skills
Communication skills with ability to work with various team members in support of meeting program or project objectives
Computer skills including Word/Excel/PowerPoint/MS Project
Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing objectives
Good judgment and reasoning skills
Ability to work with limited direction
