Assistant Project Accountant (Warton) Warton 6 Month Contract Hybrid Working – 3 Days on Site £16.83 PAYE per hour or £22.45 via umbrella (inside IR35) The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Project Accountant to join BAE Systems at Warton. Working within the Project Finance Delivery Team, you will support the delivery of high-quality financial reporting, trading and analysis across major customer projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with finance, reporting, or accounting experience looking to develop their career within a large and highly respected organisation.
Job Responsibility:
Support monthly sales and margin trading activities in line with IFRS 15 principles
Assist with month-end reporting, financial updates, and balance sheet reviews
Prepare journals, reporting packs, and supporting financial documentation
Support half-year and full-year statutory reporting and external audits
Analyse financial data, investigate discrepancies, and identify corrective actions
Work closely with finance teams, project stakeholders, and wider business functions
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and continuous improvement workshops
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with financial controls and procedures
Requirements:
Previous finance, accounting, or reporting experience preferred
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Good analytical and problem-solving ability
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Infor LN is desirable
Knowledge of financial reporting and controls would be advantageous
Part-qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA desirable but not essential
