Job Description:

The Department of Computer Science at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cybersecurity. We seek outstanding candidates with fundamental/foundational cybersecurity research expertise applied to research areas such as energy, formal methods, cyber-physical systems, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Job Responsibility:

  • Pursue a cybersecurity-focused research agenda
  • Contribute to cybersecurity education
  • Establish internal and external research collaborations
  • Attract external funding for a self-sustaining research program

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (completed by the start date)
  • Demonstrated research expertise in cybersecurity
  • Strong publication record in high-quality venues
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice to have:

  • Background in formal methods
  • Experience with hardware and/or software forensics, and/or reverse engineering, and/or malware analysis
  • Experience with cybersecurity in energy systems, smart grids, and/or critical infrastructure
  • Experience at the intersection of cybersecurity and machine learning and/or AI
  • Experience collaborating with industry, government agencies, or national laboratories
  • Evidence of successful grant writing and securing research funding
