The School of Education at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. The position serves undergraduate and graduate special education majors. The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students.
Job Responsibility:
Teach a 4/4 load in both traditional and online modalities
Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda
Conduct academic advising
Participate in service to the school, college, university, and community
Membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended
Demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise
Requirements:
Earned Ph.D. in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution at time of appointment
ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment
Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Analytic and problems solving skills

Ability to collaborate with peers and students
Ability to understand and adapt to current trends in professional communication
Nice to have:
A minimum of three (3) years experience teaching in a P-12 school in the United States
Experience working with students at the college or university level

Experience teaching online courses and working with learning management systems
