Job Description

The School of Education at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. The position serves undergraduate and graduate special education majors. The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students.

Job Responsibility

  • Teach a 4/4 load in both traditional and online modalities
  • Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda
  • Conduct academic advising
  • Participate in service to the school, college, university, and community
  • Membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended
  • Demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise

Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution at time of appointment
  • ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment
  • Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Analytic and problems solving skills
  • Active and effective listening skills
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and students
  • Ability to understand and adapt to current trends in professional communication
