The CACREP-accredited Counselor Education Program in the Department of Clinical Therapeutic Programs at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. Applicants should hold an earned Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited institution/program. ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May 2026 prior to an August 2026 appointment. Applicants must also hold an active state counseling license and both be eligible for Kentucky clinical counseling licensure and willing to pursue Kentucky licensure within one year. The position begins August 2026. The Assistant Professor of Counselor Education serves courses in clinical mental health counseling. It requires a minimum of two years' experience teaching at the college or university level; a minimum of two years' experience supervising clinical students or novice professionals; and experience teaching across the eight core content areas of the CACREP curriculum. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in clinical mental health counseling and supervision - with focus in such content areas as counseling theories, assessment and testing, and diagnosis and treatment - and provide clinical supervision to master's students in a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain an active scholarly research agenda, including publications and presentations, and participate in service to the department, college, university, community and profession. The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.
Job Responsibility
Maintain a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of the program and students
Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities for both in-person and online instruction, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures as a means to help meet the needs of EKU students
Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to one's curricular areas
Develop and maintain an active research agenda
Keep up to date with one's field and curricular areas by reading and reviewing current scholarly or creative works and by attending conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and faculty development activities
Advise students in fulfilling program, departmental, college, and university requirements
Requirements
