The Construction Management Program in the School of Safety, Security, & Emergency Management at Eastern Kentucky University seeks applicants for a tenure track position in Construction Management at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. The position serves the construction management program. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in construction management in a faculty workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution. Courses may include Estimating, Scheduling, Horizontal Construction, and MEP Systems. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, conduct academic advising, and participate in service to the department, university, and community.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution, teaching courses as assigned
Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures
Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to construction management
Develop and maintain an active research agenda
Keep up to date with advances in the construction industry and teaching pedagogy areas
Advise students in fulfilling program, departmental, college, and university committee assignments
Mentor student organizations, clubs and competition teams
Participate in the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accreditation process
Requirements:
PhD in Construction Management/Civil Engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
Master of Science Degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, or Construction Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of P.E. licensure and experience in the field of construction management
3+ years of progressive professional construction experience in the United States
Previous higher education teaching experience
Nice to have:
Construction and/or research experience related to BIM or AI use in the construction industry
Membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations
Knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline
