The Assistant Production Manager under the direction of the Sr. Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of the shipping, hydrate, and kiln process and personnel at the plant. He/she is accountable for the shipping, hydrate, and kiln operations with responsibility for safety performance, production, preventive maintenance indicators, quality, compliance, for those production-related activities of the plant.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure the most safe, efficient, and economical operation of the plant
Manage the shipping, hydrate and kiln operation
Involved in establishing the targets and priorities for the shipping, hydrate and kiln operations
Responsible for the execution of the objectives in the shipping, hydrate, and kiln operation sections
Communicate effectively with all employees on all levels
Apply the consistent fundamental of the product and process quality
Timely response to both internal and external customer demands
Monitor overall department performance for production and quality standards
Ensures that all products produced and shipped meet quality and customer requirements
Involved in providing input and suggestion for the plant annual budgeting process
Engaged in providing suggestion for potential capital project requests
Manage manpower utilization
Delegates authority to key team members
Coordinate plant activities through planning with other members of the plant management team
Provide leadership and mentoring to team members
Provide direction, development, encourage collaboration, and leadership
Provides a strong visional presence and professional leadership style
Provide quick and accurate responses to other functional areas
Provide accurate and consistent direction and understand of the collective bargaining agreement
Responsible for working on timely and accurately responses to grievances
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
4 - 6 years industrial experience in a mining, construction, and/or heavy manufacturing environment in a proven leadership role
Proven leadership, management and supervisory experience
Must be capable of working any shift, on-call, overtime, or seven days a week, if needed
Ability to plan and direct the work of salaried and hourly personnel and to train and develop an effective and efficient workforce
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate on all levels
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines
Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and the desire to following all established procedures
Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint software
Must be physically able to perform work assigned
Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations
Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust
Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, working over water, and accessing tunnels
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
Nice to have:
AA degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or technical related field
Knowledge of refractory brick usage and installation
Prior experience in heavy industry with large rotating equipment
Prior experience in shipping and lime processes
Training and experience leading Lean and/or Six Sigma in solving difficult problems
Previous SAP knowledge
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or other Engineering discipline and additional leadership training and certifications
7-10 years industrial lime experience in proven leadership role
