Job Description:

Assistant Procurement Manager for Rigids Packaging in India, part of Unilever's Supply Chain function. The role involves managing supplier relationships, driving cost savings and innovation, and ensuring sustainable supply chains.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage the rigids packaging convertors supplier base across all key business dimensions: supply, resilience, agility, quality, responsible sourcing, sustainability, cost and cash
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and drive the savings programme
  • Drive innovations and ensure innovation lands on time in full
  • Responsible for contract management
  • Responsible for forecasting process
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and address any issues promptly
  • Support the business with accurate price forecasting
  • Source Moulds for innovations, cost-savings and capacity enhancement
  • Independently manage procurement process and systems

Requirements:

  • University degree preferably in packaging
  • Strong experience in Procurement (3-7 years)
  • FMCG experience is also a plus
  • Strong track record of delivering cost savings and business value
  • Subject matter expertise in rigids packaging such as Bottles, Caps, Pumps etc
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies such as EBM, IM, IBM and ISBM
  • Digital and analytics knowledge
  • Financial acumen for evaluating business cases and reporting
  • Strategic sourcing
  • Negotiation
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Identifying value creating and innovation opportunities
  • Managing Sustainability in Supply Chains

FMCG experience is also a plus

  • Lead cross-functional routines (R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Marketing) and ensure decision-readiness at project gates
  • Ensure packaging solutions meet Unilever technical standards and PQS (functionality, quality, safety, compliance)
  • Define & maintain specifications for finished goods and materials: flexible packaging, rigid plastics, corrugated carton board, and sustainability-related materials
  • Troubleshoot issues (machinability, sealing, COF, transit damage, leakage, delamination) and close with data-backed actions
  • Plan & execute factory trials, line validations, transit tests, and material qualifications across sites, with complete technical documentation
  • Lead risk assessment & mitigation
  • secure stakeholder signoffs for commercialization
  • Review and approve local language artworks based on packaging specifications, technical requirements, and local regulatory compliance
