In collaboration with the school principal, staff and students, build and maintain a positive school culture
Support the principal in the leadership of the school, aligned to the vision of the building and the vision of Southern Westchester BOCES
Collaborate with the Director, Assistant Director and Principals to lead building and center-wide initiatives
Support and lead a consistently therapeutic approach to all students
Facilitate and lead student management and discipline, prioritizing keeping students in school
In collaboration with the leadership team, identify and provide for the delivery of relevant Professional Learning
Supervise and evaluate instructional and support staff in accordance with the agreed upon APPR Plan, Board of Education Policies, and employment contracts
Communicate with, and maintain positive relationships with, parents, component school district personnel, colleagues and community partners
Manage and facilitate Human Resources functions as necessary, including hiring and employee management
Participate in program development based upon identified needs and projections
Collaborate, regarding shared students, with colleagues from the SWBOCES Center for Career Services
Serve as a member of the SWBOCES District-Wide Leadership Team
Support student and staff Social/Emotional well-being
Lead and facilitate debrief and forward planning sessions related to behavior or crisis situations
Support, implement or initiate programs to increase student attendance and academic achievement
Requirements:
New York State School Building Leader Certification
New York State Teaching Certification: Special Education preferred
Excellent speaking, writing and listening skills
Prior teaching, related service or clinical experience: minimum of three years preferred
Understanding of New York State Next Generation Learning Standards
Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of Part 100 and 200 NYS Commissioner’s Regulations and the CSE process
Thorough knowledge of graduation requirements and pathways for Special Education students, adult and community agencies that serve adults with disabilities as well as the process of transitioning from high school to adulthood
