At the start of 2026, St Aidan’s Hurstville Grove and St Paul’s Oatley amalgamated to become one united church, under the leadership of a new Senior Pastor. We are a growing church of around 350 adults and children, with a deep desire to see more people know Jesus and grow in him. We are now seeking a godly and gifted male Assistant Pastor to join us in this exciting new chapter. This position reports to the Senior Pastor and is full time. You will be a significant member of our new combined staff team.
Job Responsibility:
Pastoring the morning congregation at Oatley
Regular preaching (also at our Hurstville Grove campus)
Discipleship and pastoral care
Leading services
Helping connect with outsiders
Following up and enfolding newcomers into the community
Encouraging a culture of mission and evangelism
Identifying congregation members gifts and empowering them for ministry
Baptisms, weddings and funerals as required
In addition, take responsibility for one of the following based on gifting, passion and experience: Mission & Evangelism Pastor, Young Adults Pastor, Music Pastor, or Congregation Pastor for a second service
Requirements:
Person of Christian Character with demonstrated commitment to Reformed Evangelical Christian values
A life that demonstrates grace and the transforming sanctifying work of God
A passionate love for both Christ and his church, and a desire to see lives transformed by the gospel
A servant heart that is willing to commit to the mission and direction of our church
Teachable and willing to learn, with an ability to work both with and under authority, in the context of our ministry team and under the leadership of the Senior Pastor
BTh degree preferred or working towards degree in Ministry, ideally with previous parish experience
Ability to teach the Bible faithfully, clearly, and practically
Proven ability in pastoral care amongst congregations and community
Proven ability to lead and train groups and ministry teams
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
A willingness to learn, grow, and adjust as the job may require
The ability to work independently and as a team member
The ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
A passion and enthusiasm to work with volunteers and help them succeed
