Job Description:

This is a 12-month, full-time faculty appointment focused on teaching, advising, service, and scholarship. Program faculty are also involved with all aspects of program administration including student selection, curriculum design and implementation, and assessment of students and the program.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing student instruction through virtual synchronous and asynchronous courses, in-person lectures and labs, simulation activities, and practical exams
  • Evaluating student performance
  • Providing academic counseling to students
  • Coordinating and/or providing remedial instruction
  • Participating in design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the curriculum
  • Contributing to the development, review, and revision of the program’s mission statement, goals, and competencies
  • Assisting with selection of applicants for program admission
  • Participating in program evaluation through self-assessment and document preparation for ARC-PA accreditation
  • Engaging in service, community, and campus relations, and scholarly activities
  • Ensure integration of faith into curriculum, mentoring students
  • Performing other duties as requested by the Program Director

Requirements:

  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Associate/Assistant, MD, or DO (will be required upon employment)
  • Current NCCPA certification for PAs (PA-C Emeritus acceptable) or current board certification for physicians
  • Must have a master’s degree in either healthcare or education
  • 3 or more years of clinical experience
  • Strong computer skills and adaptability in learning new software/online platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
  • Superior organization skills
  • Ability to confidently interact as a leader, team member, and collaborative contributor
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and successfully meet deadlines

Nice to have:

  • Doctoral degree is preferred
  • Preference given to candidates with PA or other medical education experience
  • Record of scholarship, academic teaching experience and effectiveness, and essential interprofessional skills
  • Experience in PA classroom teaching and PA education administration preferred
