Assistant Manager supporting the Crematorium Manager and playing a major role in the hands-on day to day operation of the site. Supporting with leading and developing the site team and working with the Crematorium Manager to create a culture that reflects our values.
Job Responsibility:
Support the Crematorium Manager in the commercial performance of the site (sales, cost control and profit)
Deputise for the Crematorium Manager when required
Optimise the efficient use of site resources including staff, facilities
To work, reflecting our values, to create an excellent working environment for your team
Ensure adherence to the “Code of Practice” as laid down by The Federation of British Cremation Authorities
Develop and manage your team effectively under the guidance of the Crematorium Manager
Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard and in line with company policy
Ensure the highest standards of health and safety and ensure compliance with Westerleigh Group H&S policy
Ensuring day-to-day operations run as smoothly as possible and follow the complaints procedure
Liaise with Distinct Cremations over the booking of direct cremation services
Undertaking memorial sales appointments and follow up processes
General cleaning duties – All public and staff areas as required
Knowledge and understanding of memorial range in order to provide effective advice to families
Learning all areas of the site, supporting the team and overall operation: Chapel - Welcoming families and Funeral Directors
Cremation – You will be fully trained and work towards an accredited FBCA qualification
Administration - Answering the telephone with great customer service skills, using Chronicle / Word / Excel, helping families with queries
Ad hoc work – for example some basic gardening, getting involved in a Christmas service
Requirements:
Previous experience as an Assistant Manager / Team Leader / Supervisor / Management experience or completion of MIT preferred
Ability to deputise for Crematorium Manager when required
Able to travel to other sites for cover when required
Loyal and trustworthy with the ability to deal with confidential information
Performance driven
Interest in personal development and a commitment to developing skills
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
You will need to be able bodied as manual handling will be part of this role
Emotionally resilient and organised with excellent attention to detail

Flexible in approach to working hours

Good level of IT skills and comfortable with Word / Excel and emails
