We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and highly motivated Assistant Manager to join our team. Working closely with the Store Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our coffee shop, driving team performance, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a love for coffee culture, excellent communication skills, and the ability to train staff and manage inventory effectively.
Job Responsibility
Supervise Staff: Lead baristas and staff during shifts, ensuring high standards of customer service and product quality
Training & Development: Train new hires on barista skills, coffee preparation, POS systems, and shop policies
Motivate & Coach: Foster a positive work environment, providing ongoing feedback and coaching to team members
Scheduling: Assist the manager in creating staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage, particularly during peak hours
Day-to-Day Operations: Manage daily opening/closing procedures and ensure the store is clean, well-presented, and fully operational
Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, place supplier orders, and conduct regular inventory counts to minimize waste
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment are maintained and serviced as needed
Safety Compliance: Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene standards
Customer Excellence: Build relationships with customers and resolve complaints or concerns promptly
Driving Sales: Implement marketing initiatives, promote special offers, and drive sales targets
Product Knowledge: Maintain expert knowledge of our coffee, tea, and food menu to make recommendations
Cash Handling: Oversee cash management, till balancing, and daily bank deposits
Financial Reporting: Assist with reporting on daily sales and KPIs, helping to manage labour costs and expenses
Requirements
2+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role within the hospitality industry (coffee shop/cafe preferred)
Strong hands-on knowledge of espresso brewing, milk steaming, and latte art
Proven capability to lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
Capable of standing for long periods and lifting heavy items (e.g., milk crates, coffee bags)
