The Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of our Winchester Thrift Shop, helping ensure a positive experience for customers, volunteers, and team members while maximizing fundraising efforts for our mission.
Job Responsibility:
Support and learn all aspects of thrift shop management in partnership with the Store Manager
Assume responsibility for daily operations when the manager is absent
Open and close the store as scheduled, ensuring appropriate staffing and operational readiness
Supervise thrift associates, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and standards are maintained
Deliver exceptional customer service that reflects Blue Ridge Care's mission and values
Promote the thrift shop through community outreach, events, and advertising with leadership approval
Foster a respectful, positive environment for staff, volunteers, and customers alike
Maintain accurate inventory and appropriate stock levels
Oversee processing of incoming donations, ensuring items are sorted, cleaned, priced, and displayed
Ensure all merchandise is accurately priced according to store policies
Collaborate with staff to creatively merchandise clothing, wares, and specialty items
Manage jewelry display, pricing, and organization to maximize visibility and sales
Supervise, train, and support volunteers to ensure effective and meaningful contributions
Assist with staff and volunteer scheduling, vacations, special events, and shift coverage
Seek volunteer assistance respectfully while maintaining a positive working environment
Support sales tracking, revenue reconciliation, and donation processing
Complete end-of-month reports and required paperwork accurately and on time
Maintain accurate receipts for sales and donations
Manage petty cash, ensuring daily counts and proper documentation
Ensure daily deposits are accurate and completed timely
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment meeting health and safety standards
Actively seek feedback and professional development opportunities
Perform duties independently and reliably, supporting the overall success of the thrift shop
Complete additional duties as needed to support operations and fundraising goals
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of two years of retail and customer service experience required
Computer literacy required
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Valid driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle for travel within the service area
