Job Description:

The Tax Support role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate compliance with Indirect Tax regulations, primarily Goods and Services Tax (GST). This position involves managing monthly and annual GST filings, supporting the legal team in tax-related matters, and coordinating with external consultants to handle litigation under GST and legacy Indirect Tax laws. The role requires strong knowledge of tax regulations, attention to detail, and effective communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors.

Job Responsibility:

  • Filing of monthly and annual GST returns in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Ensure timely payment of GST liabilities and reconciliation of tax accounts
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and internal reviews
  • Assist the legal team in managing tax-related disputes and litigation
  • Coordinate with external consultants for preparing documentation and providing necessary supporting / reconciliations for GST and erstwhile Indirect Tax matters
  • Prepare litigation reports, calculate exposure, and maintain a tracker for all ongoing cases
  • Track and document all communications/ queries received from GST authorities, ensuring timely escalation and response
  • Act as a liaison between internal teams and external tax consultants
  • Provide support in interpreting tax laws and implementing changes as per regulatory updates
  • Monitor compliance risks and recommend corrective actions

Requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant with 1–2 years of experience in Indirect Tax compliance and litigation support
  • Strong understanding of GST laws and previous Indirect Tax frameworks
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and working knowledge of accounting software (SAP)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
