The Assistant Manager – Restaurant supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations to ensure exceptional dining experiences for all guests. This role plays a key part in leading and motivating the restaurant team, maintaining service standards, managing resources efficiently, and ensuring smooth operational flow during all meal periods. The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting financial performance, fostering a positive team culture, and upholding Marriott’s service values while ensuring compliance with brand standards and operational procedures. This position is island-based and requires working on a rostered stay-on-island schedule.
Job Responsibility:
Assists in managing and supervising the restaurant team to ensure service excellence and operational efficiency
Ensures team members meet performance expectations and adhere to service standards and operational guidelines
Supports smooth daily operations and works towards achieving or exceeding budgeted financial and service goals
Engages with guests to gather feedback, resolve issues promptly, and ensure memorable dining experiences
Provides coaching, counseling, and continuous performance feedback to team members to support growth and service quality
Analyzes operational information to make effective decisions that enhance guest satisfaction and operational success
Requirements:
Previous experience in restaurant operations, food & beverage service, or hospitality supervision preferred
Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate, and support a diverse team
Knowledge of restaurant service standards, food safety, and hygiene practices
Strong guest service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle operational challenges professionally
Competent in basic administrative tasks including scheduling, reporting, and stock coordination
Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and support continuous improvement
Willingness and ability to work on a rostered stay-on-island arrangement
Must hold valid working rights in Fiji
