This Assistant Manager, Legal Services position will support attorneys in Marriott’s Law Department on employment matters and where required, corporate matters for Marriott-branded managed, franchise and residential projects in Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC).
Job Responsibility:
Provide legal support on employment matters and where required, corporate matters.
Prepare, review and maintain employment‑related documentation, including employment contracts, show cause letters, disciplinary outcome letters, mutual separation documents.
Conduct legal research on statutory labor and employment requirements across APEC.
Assist with drafting and review of employment‑related policies and guidance notes.
Maintain and update employment precedent libraries and templates.
Assist in responding to routine employment and labor law queries.
Provide general support to employment counsel on day‑to‑day employment and labor matters across APEC jurisdictions.
Prepare initial drafts of management, franchise, residential and various other hotel-related agreements under the direction of an attorney.
Coordinate with external legal counsel on due diligence and other forms of legal advice sought under an attorney’s supervision.
Lead the closing of transactions by managing the execution of agreements, obtaining internal powers of attorney and other required authorizations.
Maintain knowledge database for current agreements and related standard forms, alternative provisions and legal research.
Requirements:
4+ years of work experience as a paralegal / legal manager handling commercial contracts, either in a law firm or law department of a multi-national corporation OR 1+ years of work experience as an attorney, in a transactional or corporate practice in a law firm.
At least a legal diploma (or equivalent).
Diligence, dependability and good work ethic, with a strong attention to detail.
Good project management and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team, adaptable to different working styles and changing work demands.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and develop positive, professional working relationships with team members as well as internal clients.
Nice to have:
Law degree not required but will be considered an advantage.
Prior experience in employment law matters is an advantage but not required.
