Job Description:

This Assistant Manager, Legal Services position will support attorneys in Marriott’s Law Department on employment matters and where required, corporate matters for Marriott-branded managed, franchise and residential projects in Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC). The position will be based in Singapore and will report to a Vice President & Senior Counsel.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare, review and maintain employment‑related documentation, including employment contracts, show cause letters, disciplinary outcome letters, mutual separation documents
  • Conduct legal research on statutory labor and employment requirements across APEC
  • Assist with drafting and review of employment‑related policies and guidance notes
  • Maintain and update employment precedent libraries and templates
  • Assist in responding to routine employment and labor law queries
  • Provide general support to employment counsel on day‑to‑day employment and labor matters across APEC jurisdictions
  • Prepare initial drafts of management, franchise, residential and various other hotel-related agreements under the direction of an attorney
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel on due diligence and other forms of legal advice sought under an attorney’s supervision
  • Lead the closing of transactions by managing the execution of agreements, obtaining internal powers of attorney and other required authorizations
  • Maintain knowledge database for current agreements and related standard forms, alternative provisions and legal research

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of work experience as a paralegal / legal manager handling commercial contracts, either in a law firm or law department of a multi-national corporation OR 1+ years of work experience as an attorney, in a transactional or corporate practice in a law firm
  • At least a legal diploma (or equivalent)
  • Diligence, dependability and good work ethic, with a strong attention to detail
  • Good project management and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team, adaptable to different working styles and changing work demands
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and develop positive, professional working relationships with team members as well as internal clients
