Job Description

We are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an ideal role for someone who: Has experience working within a finance or management accounts environment. Has a good understanding of accruals, prepayments, budgeting, and month-end reporting processes. Has the ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and communicate findings clearly. Has good organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities. Is confident communicating with both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Has intermediate to advanced Excel skills. You will: Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered within reporting deadlines. Prepare and maintain monthly prepayments, accruals, and other period-end journals to ensure costs are recognised in the correct accounting period. Assist with capital expenditure accounting, including monitoring spend, maintaining fixed asset records, and ensuring accurate reporting of CAPEX movements. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reporting, providing timely insight into trading performance, highlighting trends, and supporting operational decision-making across the business. Support budgeting and forecasting processes by working with departmental managers to review assumptions, challenge costs, and develop robust financial plans. Carry out variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods, identifying key movements and explaining underlying drivers. Assist in preparing financial information and supporting analysis for management and board reporting. Prepare and complete bank reconciliations, ensuring cash balances are accurate, reconciling differences promptly, and investigating any unreconciled items or discrepancies. Prepare VAT returns. Provide guidance and day-to-day support to the Finance Apprentice. Other details of the role: This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. A flexible approach is required. The role is permanent. Salary: £35,000 per annum.

Job Responsibility
