Brook Street are partnering with a leading independent group in Monmouth to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support the smooth running of a busy finance function. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid accounting experience to step into a broad, hands-on role with variety and visibility.
Job Responsibility:
Bank and cash reconciliations for the main organisation and its trading company
Assisting with cashflow management and administration of pre-paid cards
Departmental budget monitoring and reporting across academic, support cost centres and house funds
Preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis for management as required
General ledger reconciliations and control account administration, including income stream reconciliations
Inter-company cross charging between the main organisation and trading company
Providing cover and assistance with the day-to-day accounting requirements of the trading company
Supporting the Finance Manager with routine accounting and payroll activities
Offering general support and cover across the wider finance team when needed
Liaising with departments across the organisation to ensure accurate and complete financial information
Handling incoming queries (phone, email and in person) in a professional and friendly manner
Requirements:
A recognised accounting qualification at minimum AAT Level 4 (or equivalent), part qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA, or qualified by more than ample experience
At least 2-3 years' experience in a relevant accounting role with solid exposure to day-to-day finance operations
Strong understanding of accounting processes, including general ledgers
Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Word
Good time management, problem-solving skills and a flexible, "hands-on" approach
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a confident telephone manner
High attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a calm, professional manner under pressure
