The Machine Builder Assistant supports the assembly of equipment by partnering closely with Machine Builders to ensure projects meet quality, cost, and timing expectations. This role involves documenting and communicating changes or issues, maintaining an organized and safe work environment, and assisting with material preparation and secondary processes. The position requires learning to operate various shop equipment while adhering to ISO and quality standards. Success in this role depends on strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Occasional travel and physical activity are required to support project and operational needs.
Job Responsibility
Assist Machine Builder(s) with the assembly of equipment
Ensure that changes and problems get documented and communicated
Carry out assigned tasks with minimum direct supervision
Assist the Machine Builder(s) with the execution of ISO\Quality standards
Communicate with the Machine Builder(s) on open issues and progress during the build process
Assist the Machine Builder(s) with the successful execution of assigned programs as they relate to cost, quality, timing and customer satisfaction
Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area
Assist with preparing material for secondary processes (material finishing, heat treat, and deburring)
Learn to effectively and safely operate: Mill, Drill Press, Sanders, Saws
Requirements
Basic computer skills
Basic proficiency reading part and assembly drawings preferred
Proven mechanical aptitude with a focus on safety and quality
Proven ability to accept direction and complete tasks as assigned while working as part of a team or individually
Ability to maintain a steady pace while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and climbing onto and beneath machines
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required
Ability to obtain a Hi-Lo (Forklift), Aerial Platform and Overhead Crane license, along with Lock Out Tag Out training, while employed at JR
Travel at least 20% of the time may be required
