The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for performing, evaluating, and reporting of technical laboratory procedures on patient specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Follows established procedures to ensure laboratory quality control and compliance with professional standards of practice. The Assistant Supervisor may perform administrative and supervisory responsibilities of the laboratory section assuming additional technical or non-technical responsibilities as needed.
Job Responsibility:
Reviews and troubleshoots quality control and equipment issues
Observes and instructs student technologists and new or current employees
Effectively manages resources such as productivity, supplies, instruments and equipment
Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner
Reports test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols
May provide supervision of a laboratory section
May perform method validations and ongoing method assessments
Effectively communicates with nursing and medical staff
Ensures staff compliance with regulatory, departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols
Assists or provides monitoring and coaching of team members and provides input in the evaluation of team members performance
Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures
Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures
May assess competency of team members
Assists the Supervisor and/or Manager with writing and reviewing of policies and procedures
Requirements:
Accredited Program
Clinical Lab Supervisor License (SU LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
Five (5) years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
Graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist program, or accredited Histotechnology program
