Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement, Business Administration, or other related field
plus four (4) years of related work experience in Law Enforcement or another related area or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
Of the four (4) years of required work experience, three (3) years must be supervisory experience
Colorado Basic Peace Officer Academy Certificate of Completion (needs to be in good standing) or equivalent, must be familiar with Colorado-POST and Rule 21
This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance

Job Responsibility

Oversees the state-regulated Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Peace Officer Academy which confers the following certificates: Basic Peace Officer Academy
Standard Field Sobriety Test
Tactical Casualty Care for Law Enforcement Skills
Arrest Control, Driving, and Firearms
Primary focus is on POST compliance and ensuring all objectives are met for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office Basic Peace Officer Academy
Oversees the Police Studies and Criminal Justice Associate Degree programs
Performs management duties including, but not limited to, developing and implementing short/long term planning, budget responsibility, program leadership and supervision
Interviews, recommends for hire, trains, & supervises full-time and part-time Faculty and Assistant Instructors working in the police academy/ police studies and criminal justice degree and certificate programs
Serves as an initial point of contact for employee and student grievances or complaints for the degree and certificate programs, and responds appropriately or moves the issue up the chain of command
Oversees, prepares, and maintains POA records and files as required by state agencies, internal policies, and internal and external reviews

Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) must be obtained on a one-time basis within two years of appointment to this role.
For North Carolina teammates, an Armed Guard License issued by NC Private Protective Services must be obtained within 1 year and maintained through training and competency assessments.
NIMS Compliance Certification

Provides front line shift leadership for Public Safety Officer 1 & 2 routine and emergency responsibilities. Prioritizes and assigns tasks to accommodate shifting demands and resource pressures. Confirms shift work documentation in the electronic record. Reviews and approves all shift incident reports. Conduct shift briefings to ensure accurate communication and handoff.
Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence. Responds to service calls, such as combative or threatening patients or visitors and team member incidents.
Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation, utilizing use of force when necessary (e.g. conducted electrical weapon (CEW), handcuffing.)
Provides a secure and safe work environment by monitoring officer compliance with policies, procedures, and processes. Schedules public safety staff, ensures daily work and assignments are appropriately covered, ensures PTO is equitably offered and scheduled, and reviews timecards for accuracy.
Makes decisions regarding the dispositions of apprehension/arrest cases. Refers the most complex issues to leadership.
Rounds on internal customers and attends their meetings to monitor customer satisfaction and service delivery.
Performs key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies such as lost or abducted infants/children, fire, and active threats.
