Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion) role in a specialist secondary provision for boys aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a pivotal leadership role with strategic and operational responsibility for inclusion across the school.
Job Responsibility:
Whole-school inclusion and SEND strategy
Oversight of EHCP processes and Annual Reviews
Leadership of SEMH provision and targeted intervention
Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), working closely with the Operational DSL
Designated Teacher responsibility for looked after and previously looked after children
Line management, coaching and development of staff
Teaching element modelling inclusive, adaptive and trauma-informed practice
Requirements:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have strong, practical experience of SEND and inclusive practice
Be confident managing statutory processes and competing priorities
Lead staff with clarity, empathy and purpose
Remain calm, reflective and resilient under pressure
Be ambitious for vulnerable learners and for your own leadership journey
