Job Description:

Are you a part-qualified or newly qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant looking to build your career in a dynamic, fast-paced group finance environment? We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Group Accountant to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Group Finance Manager to deliver accurate, insightful financial reporting that supports key decision-making across the business. You’ll help strengthen financial controls, enhance balance sheet integrity, and play a vital part in improving our financial processes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and identify risks or opportunities
  • Take ownership of assigned month-end tasks and post journals independently
  • Support internal and external audit activities and help translate technical accounting matters clearly
  • Assist in preparing monthly balance sheet and cash flow reporting
  • Provide meaningful analysis behind balance sheet movements and variances
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and support improvements in reporting processes
  • Support day-to-day banking operations and cash flow monitoring (short and long term)
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure transactions are processed accurately
  • Assist in producing timely and accurate tax returns
  • Provide financial analysis to support business initiatives and special projects
  • Help enhance financial processes and drive efficiencies across the Group

Requirements:

  • Qualified or studying towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting
  • Good understanding of balance sheet, cash flow, and financial statements
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, IF statements) and ability to interpret large datasets
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is an advantage
