Delaware North Sportservice is searching for an Assistant General Manager to join our team at Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. Rate Field offers strong sightlines, wide concourses, and a variety of seating options and social gathering spaces designed to enhance the fan experience. The ballpark is known for its diverse food and beverage offerings, featuring classic Chicago favorites alongside specialty concepts and lively social hubs throughout the venue. In addition to Chicago White Sox home games, Rate Field hosts concerts and special events year‑round, welcoming millions of guests and serving as one of the Midwest’s premier sports and entertainment destinations. As an Assistant General Manager, you will Assist the General Manager in setting short and long-term departmental goals and objectives that cover a range of areas, including people development, company policies and operating budgets.
Job Responsibility:
Assist General Manager in setting short- and long-term departmental goals and objectives that cover a range of areas, including development of personnel, company policies and operating budgets
Oversee season planning process ensuring alignment with Delaware North, client expectations, and operational goals
Engage in the financial goals of the operation, with support from the General Manager, in budget planning, P&L management, financial reporting, action plans, and projections to ensure cash, inventory, and payroll procedures are in place
Review financial reports and develop action plans to best achieve business goals
Ensure department heads are accurately reviewing weekly payroll details
Collaborate with culinary leadership and partners to drive menu development and associated operational enhancements
Identify opportunities and drive continual improvement in our location operations
Hire, train, and develop the team and ensure all team members at the unit are supported and managed effectively to provide optimal experiences for guests and team members
Conducts regularly scheduled meetings to ensure lines of communication are open between management and team members
Assist Controller to ensure compliance with audit tasks for all departments
Act as main point of contact with the client as it relates to food and beverage strategies, and work with the general manager to recap discussions and actionable items
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, guests, subcontractors, Union reps and Delaware North team members
Oversee all subcontractors’ contracts, relationships, and operations
Maintains state, federal and business compliance, including responsible alcohol service guidelines, safety and sanitation standards, and client requirements
Special projects as assigned by upper management
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of food and beverage leadership experience in a high-volume arena, ballpark, or stadium setting is required
Prior experience working in a multi-sport property a plus
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Business Management, or a relatable discipline is preferred
Operational financial management, profit and loss management, financial reporting, and budgeting are required
Ability to build foundational relationships with excellent oral, written, and communications skills
Strong commitment to client and guest engagement will be critical to this individual’s success
Prior labor relations, union exposure, and CBA negotiations preferred
Ability to lead and make decisions in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
Strong technical skills and POS system experience required
