Join TUI Hotels & Resorts as a Cluster Assistant Fire Protection Engineer, supporting and coordinating Fire Protection initiatives across our owned TUI hotel properties in Zanzibar under the supervision of the Maintenance Director and Health & Safety Manager. This role will primarily be located at the TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar, Pwani Mchangani, Tanzania.
Job Responsibility
Oversee fire protection and life safety systems including Firefighting systems (sprinklers, hose reels, landing valves, fire pumps), Fire alarm systems (addressable and conventional), Emergency and exit lighting systems, Smoke detectors and fire suppression systems
Ensure systems are operational 24/7 without compromising guest comfort or hotel services
Plan, coordinate, and supervise installation work during system upgrades
Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm and firefighting systems
Coordinate Civil Defense and authority inspections, approvals, and certifications
Ensure full compliance with Local Fire & Life Safety Codes & Regulations, Hotel brand standards and company policies
Support fire risk assessments and life safety audits
Ensure statutory inspection schedules are met and documented
Maintain readiness for emergency situations at all times
Coordinate closely with Hotel Engineering team, Health Safety, MEP, civil, and contractors for maintenance works
Assist in planning and execution of fire drills and evacuation exercises
Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, and maintenance, fire alarm events and corrective actions, authority approvals and certificates
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for management and external Audits
Assist in training hotel staff on fire safety procedures, emergency response and evacuation, basic use of firefighting equipment
Promote fire safety awareness among staff and contractors
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
Experience in fire protection systems within hotels, hospitality, or high‑end commercial buildings
Experience in operational hotels and guest‑occupied environments is highly preferred
Experience with testing, commissioning, and authority inspections is essential
Strong knowledge of: Firefighting systems (sprinklers, pumps, hose reels)
Fire alarm systems (addressable & conventional)
Emergency lighting and life safety systems
Familiarity with Fire & Life Safety Codes & Regulations requirements
Ability to review shop drawings, technical submittals, and method statements
Understanding of authority approval and inspection procedures
Strong troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills
Excellent coordination and communication abilities
Ability to work independently with high attention to detail
Service‑oriented mindset suitable for hospitality operations
Proficient in report writing and documentation
