Job Description

Assistant Estimator role supporting lead Estimators in preparing, costing, and submitting tenders in the construction industry

Job Responsibility

  • Tender Opportunity Management: Handle incoming tender calls, emails, and notices
  • Document Review: Examine project and tender documents, collaborating with the Estimator to discuss challenges and strategies
  • Data Management: Organise and import all documents into the Tender Docs file and create subcontractor access files in Dropbox
  • Technical Enquiries: Issue technical enquiries and measure quantities, ensuring all information is meticulously recorded in the Settlement Book
  • Site Visits: Arrange and attend site visits, capturing essential photos and insights
  • Analysis & Comparison: Evaluate quotes for errors and discrepancies, producing comprehensive comparison documents
  • Tender Submission: Compile and file all necessary documentation, ensuring seamless submission and follow-up

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing construction qualifications
  • Some relevant experience in estimating or quantity surveying
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Based within an hour of our client's office in Surrey

  • Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, addenda, and RFIs to identify the complete scope of work
  • Source material pricing from manufacturers and suppliers
  • request and track quotes to ensure timely bid submission
  • Organize and enter take-off data and pricing into estimating software and/or Excel spreadsheets
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical bid files, including drawings, specs, quotes, and award documents
  • Support the preparation of final bid proposals and bid summaries for submission
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as assigned
  • Follow up with general contractors and owners on submitted bids
  • Coordinate with the Project Management and Operations teams during the handoff of awarded projects
