We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist with 2–3 years’ professional experience to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your ecological career, working on a diverse range of projects. You will support the delivery of ecological surveys, assessments, and reports.
Job Responsibility
Assisting with and leading a range of protected species and habitat surveys (e.g. bats, reptiles, great crested newts, birds)
Supporting the preparation of technical reports, including PEAs, EcIAs, and method statements
Undertaking data analysis and contributing to project deliverables
Assisting with licence applications and mitigation strategies
Carrying out site walkovers and assisting with habitat assessments
Supporting project management and ensuring work is delivered on time
Requirements
Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
2–3 years’ relevant consultancy or industry experience (including placements or graduate roles)
Good knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
Experience supporting ecological surveys and report writing
Strong organisational and communication skills
Proactive, with a willingness to learn and develop
A full UK driving licence
Nice to have
Protected species survey licences e.g. bat or great crested newt
Membership of CIEEM (or working towards)
Experience with GIS software
