The Assistant Director will play a critical role in advancing the mission of the Virginia Digital Maritime Center (VDMC), by supporting the VDMC Executive Director in strategic planning, daily operations, program development, and external engagement. This position is responsible for fostering collaboration among faculty, staff, industry, and community partners, while ensuring the effective management of the Center’s research, educational, and outreach activities.

Requirements:
Must possess or be eligible for a security clearance to be considered for the position and maintain for the duration of employment in this position
A master’s degree required in operations, management or other related field
Minimum of ten years’ experience in program management and positions of leadership, preferably with U.S. Naval operating forces or maritime industrial base
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and staff
Strong project management, planning, and analytical skills
Ability to motivate and coordinate faculty and staff toward shared goals
Forward-looking, with the ability to identify opportunities and adapt to emerging challenges
Strong communications skills and effective at presenting complex ideas to varied audiences
Some experience in grants management, compliance, and proposal development
Knowledge of maritime industry including shipbuilding, ship repair, Naval operations
