Our client is looking for an experienced Assistant Director of Talent to shape and enhance the employee journey at their organization in Chicago, Illinois. This role is pivotal in ensuring that hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and engagement processes align with our mission and values. As both a strategic partner and hands-on contributor, you will design and manage equitable and efficient HR practices to support a thriving workplace.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the entire recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, coordinating interviews, and preparing offer letters
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local hiring regulations while guiding supervisors through recruitment activities
Facilitate candidate interviews by preparing materials, greeting applicants, and coaching interview panelists on best practices
Administer pre-employment processes such as background checks, reference verifications, and candidate reimbursements
Oversee administrative recruitment tasks, including job postings, LinkedIn Recruiter account management, and careers inbox monitoring
Coordinate and manage the summer internship program, collaborating with schools and internal teams to match candidates with supervisors
Organize orientation sessions for new hires, ensuring their onboarding experience is seamless and welcoming
Lead annual and mid-year performance review cycles, providing tools and training to supervisors and ensuring equitable processes
Develop and implement employee development plans, coordinating training opportunities and managing associated budgets
Partner with supervisors to address staff performance challenges and create actionable improvement plans when necessary
Requirements:
Minimum of five years of experience in talent acquisition, HR management, or a related field
Proficiency in full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations
Demonstrated ability to create and manage detail-oriented development initiatives
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in managing HR processes
Experience in performance management strategies, including goal setting and feedback coaching
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to serve as a trusted partner to staff and supervisors
Familiarity with talent branding and employee engagement practices
