The Assistant Director assists with coordination of the academic support services offered to student-athletes by the Chad Bratzke Student-Athlete Academic Success Center( SAAS). This will include but not limited to: intensive academic support related to academic advising, tutoring, study hall support and one on one mentoring for Football student-athletes with the goal of helping student-athletes remain academically eligible to compete, be retained, and ultimately graduate from EKU. Will serve as athletic advisor for entire Football team.
Job Responsibility:
Administers and monitors a comprehensive and intensive academic support program for football student-athletes
Provides academic advising and mentoring to student athletes in various academic majors in matters related to goal setting, curriculum choice, course load and other factors
Tracks student-athlete academic performance through the use of progress reports and communication with faculty members and coaches, and identifies at-risk students and refers students to appropriate resources
Oversees football study hall program
Assists the Athletics Compliance Office and EKU Registrar office regarding student-athlete academic progress, transfer transcript evaluations, certification process and NCAA eligibility monitoring
Participates in the development and execution of program goals
Meets with prospective student-athletes and families during recruiting visits
Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Master's degree in a field related to education, counseling, or sports management is required
Three years of related work experience to include student-athlete academic support experience at the NCAA Division I level is required
Nice to have:
Worked with Football student-athletes and coaches at NCAA Division 1 level
Clear understanding of NCAA eligibility and academic progress rules and regulations
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to manage 2 Graduate assistants
Exceptional Communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with athletic department staff, coaches, faculty and other campus departments is essential
Experience using advising systems such as degreeworks, banner, SLATE, CANVAS etc. is ideal
