The Assistant Director of Recreation plays a key leadership role in delivering exceptional guest experiences across the resort’s recreation, activities, wellness, and leisure divisions. Supporting the Director of Recreation, this position ensures that all programs, facilities, and guest interactions reflect the highest levels of luxury, personalization, and service excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Support the design and execution of curated recreation and leisure programs that align with luxury hospitality standards
Elevate the resort’s activity offerings through innovation, creativity, and alignment with guest expectations
Ensure all programs meet the resort’s brand promise and maintain consistently high guest satisfaction scores
Oversee daily operations of premium beach and pool areas
Collaborate with F&B to ensure seamless poolside and beachside service integration
Manage water sports operations ensuring guest safety, equipment excellence, and luxury-tier service delivery
Support operations across tennis/pickleball courts, golf areas and active recreation spaces
Oversee scheduling for instructors, coaches, and recreation hosts
Inspire and lead a diverse recreation team
Conduct recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations
Champion continuous training in safety, service excellence, and guest personalization
Ensure all recreation venues maintain five‑star presentation standards
Oversee maintenance coordination for equipment, pools, watercraft, activity spaces, and gear
Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, risk management, and emergency response procedures
Serve as an accessible leader for guests, ensuring prompt, thoughtful resolution to concerns or special requests
Build strong relationships with high‑value guests, VIPs, and long‑stay visitors
Monitor guest feedback channels and help implement improvements
Support budget development, cost control, revenue generation, payroll scheduling, and forecasting
Assist with inventory management, procurement, and vendor relationships
Produce reports reflecting participation, revenue, guest satisfaction, staffing, and operational outcomes
Serve as Acting Director in their absence
Represent the recreation department in cross‑functional meetings
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Hospitality, Sports Management, Resort Administration, or a related field preferred
3+ years of recreation or luxury hospitality experience, ideally in a five‑star or Forbes-rated environment
Proven leadership or supervisory experience in recreation, wellness, sports, or guest experience
Passion for luxury guest service, with strong emotional intelligence and anticipatory service instincts
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with guests from diverse cultures
Experience working in outdoor, oceanfront, or resort environments
Knowledge of luxury service standards (Forbes, LQA, AAA Five Diamond) strongly preferred
CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
